Well-Formulated Ketogenic Diet in Polycystic Kidney Disease

Overview 

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of a ketogenic diet on ADPKD. Researchers at the Ohio State University will look at total kidney volume (assessed by MRI scan) and kidney function (through blood and urine samples). 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Ages 18-65 years old
  • Diagnosis of ADPKD
  • Kidney function (GFR) greater than 25
  • No use of tolvaptan

Additional inclusion/exclusion criteria will apply. 

Participation

Participants will be asked to visit the clinic for testing 6 times over the course of a year, and to follow a ketogenic diet for 52 weeks. A dietary team at the Ohio State University will be available to help with understanding of the ketogenic diet.
