Time Restricted Feeding in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease

Overview

This research study is being conducted to learn more about how hard it is to adhere to different eating patterns and the effects of diet on ADPKD.

Study activities include:

    • A 1-year group-based dietary program delivered online
    • Blood draw and assessment of lab values
    • MRI scan of kidneys
    • Measuring blood sugar levels with a sensor under to skin for one week (3 times in the study)
    • Recording and assessment of dietary intake

 

Inclusion criteria:

  • Diagnosis of ADPKD
  • Males and females between 18-65 years of age
  • Kidney function lab value eGFR ≥30 mL/min/1.73m^2
  • Weight stable
  • BMI between 25 and 45 kg/m^2
  • Willing to make dietary changes, including possibly being in a group that restricts eating to 8 hours/day

Exclusion criteria:

  • Current smoker
  • Diagnosed with heart disease or diabetes
  • Currently participating in another weight loss or nutrition program
  • Currently taking tolvaptan

 

The baseline and end-of-study visits will take place at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Visits will last about 4 hours.  Participants must be willing to attend virtual group dietary meetings for 1 year (about 30-60 minutes in duration). Compensation will be provided.
